Adaptive CrossFit Athlete, Accountability Coach and Motivational Speaker, Amy Bream is a force to be reckoned with. This week on The Two Percent Podcast, we sit with Amy as she opens up about her life; including the incredible story of how she went from telling everyone she is one of the most unathletic people, to becoming a Nike athlete and doing a campaign with Simone Biles in less than three years. Born with a condition called PFFD (a rare congenital condition that resulted in being born missing most of her femur bone), Amy has faced many challenges. She shares how things like getting in the gym has had such a big impact on her life both physically and mentally. Amy mentions how giving hope to women and children is the most rewarding part of her journey. When she's not on the competition floor, she serves as a public motivational speaker and personal accountability/mentality coach.

Creating a Culture of Excellence (feat. Candice Storey Lee) EP.19

In this episode of The Two Percent, Harry and Kiambu speak with Candice Storey Lee, the vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and the athletic director at Vanderbilt. She is the university’s first female athletic director and the first black woman to head an SEC athletics program. Candice discusses her 20+ years at Vanderbilt, from following in the footsteps of David Williams, Vanderbilt’s former athletics director, to the trials and tribulations of leading the athletics department and paving the way for black women in sports. She tells Harry and Kiambu about her journey in sports, Vandy’s new logo, and her stance on NIL deals.

Kumar Rocker: Rangers 3rd Overall Pick, on CWS MVP, National Champion, Winning Mentality & Facing Adversity. Ep.18 Finale

Kumar Rocker speaks on the influence of his Father, Tracy Rocker, former NFL player. Tracy is now a coach with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kumar’s mindset and mental toughness stems from his childhood traveling and being around SEC football. Being in those environments played heavily into his decision on choosing Vanderbilt out of high school, instead of going in the draft. Rocker claims this to be one of the best decisions he has made in his life. Kumar discusses his battles early on dealing with SEC competition. Later in that freshman campaign, Rocker continued to rise and come through for the VandyBoys and multiple must win elimination games. Rocker is known for his infamous no hitter in a Super Regional against Duke pitching a complete game shutout with 19 strikeouts. Weeks later Kumar would being named the College World Series MVP.Kumar led his 2021 VandyBoys back to the CWS falling short to a tough, relentless Mississippi State team. He was selected 10th overall to the New York Mets in that draft. Things fell through contractually with that deal, forcing Kumar to sit out a year to heal from injury and prove himself again. He talks about the embarrassment of that situation. Kumar pitched 5 Indy Ball games which got him selected 3rd overall to the Texas Rangers in the 2022 MLB Draft. Justin Ammons talks Tony Vitello, Playing in Toronto BlueJays Org, and Crazy SEC Stories Ep.16

Justin Ammons, the Memphis, TN native was a 3 year contributor for the Tennessee Volunteers. He had the opportunity to play for Coach Serrano and Coach Vitello. Justin talks about the distinct difference between the two Head Coaches. He details the inevitable struggles that comes along with playing in the SEC. Justin talks about the journey of going 7-21 in conference play his Freshman Year to making the SEC Tournament and strong postseason run Junior Year. Ammons discusses the importance of diversity in baseball, especially at the collegiate and professional level. This adjustment will allow more kids of color to enter the game of baseball and feel comfortable doing so. Justin ended up being a free agent signee with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019. He speaks on the transition from college to Pro Ball. Ammons and host go into full detail about the process of how the Minor League System works and all of its intricacies. Jack Leiter, Rangers 2nd Overall pick, on CWS Finals, No Hitter & Pitching Mindset. Ep.15

Jack Leiter comes from a family of baseball players that all pitched in the Majors. His Dad Al Leiter played 19 seasons in the MLB and his Uncle Mark pitched 11 seasons. Jack played at Delbarton High School in New Jersey, where he performed well academically and athletically. In 2019 Leiter was selected to be in the Perfect Game and Under Armour All-American Game. Jack received New Jersey’s Gatorade Player of The Year award. June of 2019, Jack was selected in the 20th round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. Ultimately Leiter decided to pass on the opportunity of professional baseball to pursue his dream of playing at Vanderbilt University. Jack contributed to the VandyBoys right away. Covid cut his Freshman Year short but he was still able to have success in his first 4 starts. The 2021 season was electric for Leiter as he led the the entire nation in strikeouts with 179. He was monumental in getting the VandyBoys back to the College World Series. Jack set and Vanderbilt record with 15 strikeouts against a very good NC State team. He started game 1 of the CWS Finals against Mississippi State and posted 11 strikeouts leading the team to a Win. Later that month, Leiter heard is name called early in the 2021 MLB Draft as he was selected by the Texas Rangers as the number 2 Pick Overall.
